Alpha Omega offers are absurdly popular because the quality is as high as it gets – and the “II” wines are impossible to track down! Brand new to the lineup is a killer Sauvignon Blanc that could hang with Cloudy Bay and Merry Edwards in a blind tasting.  Crafted by the world’s greatest winemaking duo – Michel Rolland and Newton’s master, Jean Hoefliger!

About the wine

When pitted against the Valley’s top wines – tasters placed Alpha Omega’s “II” alongside the world’s best.  It’s really a testament to the foresight of proprietors Robin and Michelle Baggett.  Longtime winegrowers on the Central Coast, they saw an opportunity when a historic piece of land went for sale in Rutherford’s golden strip.  They leapt, and began to assemble a world-class team of vineyard and winemaking talent.  This was just in 2006, and in 9 short years, Alpha Omega has risen to the top ranks.  It’s thanks to their aggressive approach to locking up the very best vineyard land and hiring winemakers with the finest blending palates on Earth.  The II Sauvignon Blanc marries the extroverted and tropical taste of Napa fruit with the texture and length of a great White Bordeaux.  This sort of mix only works with their unique best-of-both-worlds winemaking duo.

About the winery

Situated on Rutherford’s famous benchland, Alpha Omega’s warm farm-like exterior promises the best in hospitality.  Yet concealed behind that welcoming front is an all-consuming passion to craft Napa’s very best wines.  Started in 2006 by the Barrett family, their one goal was to marshal the qualities of several great vineyards together in the pursuit of a Bordeaux-influenced blend that could compete with the elites.  It shows in the exceptional quality of their first decade of releases – exhibiting dense, supple, forward fruit characteristic of Napa, allied to the alluring complexity and sculpted structure of French Bordeaux.  Robert Parker lauded them, exclaiming 2013 “will be a great vintage, resulting in two fabulous back-to-back vintages for Alpha Omega.… this ambitious winery located on Route 29, south of St. Helena.”

About the vineyard

Each year, Hoefliger and Rolland assemble their ideal blend, which requires tasting through many different lots from many different vineyards.  In 2013, the perfect Sauvignon Blanc was achieved by using fruit from three unique sites.  Included in the mix are grapes from Alpha Omega’s Estate vineyard (top-notch stuff that supplies the best fruit), Perret (just next door, from the folks at micro-label Esquisse), and Garvey Vineyard (from the guys who farm Flora Springs and Miner and were named 2012 Napa Growers of the year).  In combination, these sites all contribute specific qualities to the overall blend that makes it flat-out amazing

About the winemakers, Jean Hoefliger and Michel Rolland

Alpha Omega boasts a partnership of Twin Titans – uniting the powers of Jean Hoefliger and Michel Rolland.  Between the two, they have a lengthy and sparkling resume that includes turns at not only California’s greatest wineries, but also those of Bordeaux’s great estates.  It’s no surprise then, that Alpha Omega has distinguished itself from the rest of its neighbors on Highway 29.  Hoefliger delivered classic quality at every stop on his way to AO, with celebrated stints at Chateau Lynch-Bages, Carbonnieux and the iconic South African estate Meerlust.  He’s joined by Michel Rolland, considered one of the five greatest winemakers on Earth – a peripatetic Frenchman who has roamed the entire planet tending vines and making wines, earning multiple 100-pt scores along the way.  This team is the envy of Napa’s top estates as they’ve established a reputation for powerful wines with sophistication.   Their wines are bold, dry and full of Napa swagger. With this unique set of palates guiding the way, it’s easy to see why Alpha Omega has become such a hot property.

"Fresh melons, lemon peel, peach, mandarin orange, honeysuckle, and wet rocks. Not so different than the Alpha Omega Estate White Label Sauv Blanc- a worthy companion for nearly all types of shellfish. Recommended Pairing: Blue Dungeness Crab.

90+ pts - Chris Stanley, Certified Sommelier

"The 2013 Alpha Omega Sauv Blanc II is vibrant and racy. Showing high acidity, grassy notes, cantaloupe, melon, citrus, stone fruit, tangerine, guava, honeysuckle, pear, and some white flower. A tantalizing and stunning Sauv Blanc of the utmost quality from a top producer."

Other Offers

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.
