Joe Wagner’s Pinot prowess is undeniable having built Meiomi into one of the top pinots in the U.S. The former Meiomi owner and winemaker’s latest exquisite Pinot is poised to push his personal legacy even further. He’s infused the delicate finesse of a classic Oregon Pinot with a touch of rich California boldness, creating a mind-bending selection that deserves prominent space on any self-respecting wine lover’s collection. Don’t sleep on this one. #6 Wine in Under $20 Category in the App!

About the wine

It takes a steady hand to make proper Oregon Pinot. This is especially the case if the sourced grapes are coming from three different appellations. Not only does winemaking impresario and Pinot-making savant Joe Wagner succeed in melding fruit from three distinct AVAs into one cohesive voice, he also sneaks in a touch of California richness into the mix. It’s a bold strategy, but then again, the Wagner family have been purveyors in successful boldness ever since they brought the groundbreaking Caymus to life. The legend that naturally shines through the prestigious surname is undeniably propelled through this opulent yet refined collision of Oregon finesse and California boldness. Ripe cranberry and fresh cherry aromas are underscored by sweet cinnamon and a nuanced hint of earth. The Golden State’s influence announces itself on the unapologetically full-bodied palate, whose hefty weight and firm acidity buoys layered, rustic notes of tart cranberry, red plum, dusty earth, and a touch of sweet tobacco. Soft tannins guide the experience to a refined, lilting finish. It’s the perfect selection for those that aren’t quite convinced of Oregon Pinot’s distinct brand of viticultural majesty.

About the winery and vineyard

Oregon wines with a touch of California opulence. That’s been Elouan’s mantra since Joe Wagner launched the label in 2014. If Joe’s name sounds familiar, it should: the fifth-generation winemaker is indeed connected to the legendary Wagner clan that foisted none other than Caymus onto an unsuspecting wine world. As such, if Joe’s says he’s finding success in crossing the viticultural streams of two states, it’s best to believe him. While the spirit of this fantastic Pinot Noir is California-kissed, Joe keeps the vineyard sources strictly north of the Golden State’s border. He’s plucked grapes from Oregon’s Willamette, Umpqua, and Rogue AVAs; a trio of coastal-driven appellations whose maritime influences, temperate climate, and volcanic soils create textbook conditions for Pinot perfection. Joe’s combination of scientific sensibility and farming finesse cajoles every speck of nuance from this fruit, producing a selection that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the country’s best Pinots, regardless of what state they originate.

About the winemaker

Joe Wagner’s pinots don’t merely reach for perfection. They help to uphold the legend of Napa royalty. The fifth-generation winemaker is the grandson of Caymus Vineyards co-founder Lorna Belle Glos Wagner, and he’s done right by the prestigious bloodline ever since he jumped into the family business in 2001. That’s the year he launched Belle Glos; his grandma-honoring single vineyard Pinot Noir label that started racking up awards before the bottles had time to cast a shadow. He’s continued to strengthen his own legacy ever since, launching popular labels such as Elouan and Carne Humana through his celebrated firm Copper Cane Wines & Provisions. While his star has ascended, his approach to winemaking has been firmly rooted in approaching each vineyard with a farmer’s finessed intuition and a scientist’s lab-driven innovation. It’s a one-two punch that consistently produces wines worthy of the Wagner surname.

"Vivacious ruby color, that is dark and denser for Oregon Pinot, but don’t judge a wine by its color! Loads of black raspberry, cherry, purple flowers, spice and gracious oak fill the nose. The palate is balanced and oozes red and dark fruits, a hint of spice with a medium body and finish. Another Wagner family success that over-delivers at price per quality. Enjoy all summer long from broiled salmon, to pork ribs on the grill and that charcuterie plate at your next friend's get-together. Is this the next Meomi of Oregon?"

Other Offers

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.
