About the wine

Beringer’s remarkable collection of vineyard sources garner nearly as much breathless acclaim as the wines they yield. The excellence of this ensemble provides Beringer winemaker Laurie Hook with a delightful challenge: Make a blend that captures every last speck of appellation-driven character that lurk behind each grape. Quantum’s brilliance proves she’s met this challenge with flying colors. The label lives up to its scientific definition by being a spectacular showcase of terroir-fueled nuance, regardless of how teeny-tiny the inference of subtlety. Laurie’s careful guidance ensures the grapes can to express their voice in a way that creates lush harmonies with each other, resulting in a well-rounded blend marked by layered complexity and sublime structure. The journey begins with alluring aromas of dark cherry, espresso, leather, and tobacco. An effortless palate transition highlights notes of ripe plum, boysenberry jam, vanilla, and smidgens of sage and spice. Silky smooth tannins ease the wine to a long, luscious finish. It’s a label that effortlessly upholds Beringer’s esteemed 140+ year legacy, and it’s also one that ties any wine collection together quite nicely.

About the winery and vineyard

It all started in 1875. That’s the year Jacob and Frederick Beringer purchased 215 acres of land and launched their eponymous winery. Their property produced one Napa innovation after another in the years that followed, from being one of the first to use a gravity fed facility and hand-dug caves to being the first Napa sport to give public tours. Their phenomenal wines are also driven by historic precedent: Beringer remains the only winery to have a red and white wine crowned Wine of the Year by Wine Spectator. This combination of award-winning wines and 140+ year history leaves quite a legacy to uphold. Yet Winemaker Emeritus Laurie Hook makes sure its legend goes beyond the status quo by making sure each label that bears the Beringer name matches the exacting demands that were set in place by past winemaking luminaries like Ed Sbragia. She does so by turning to Beringer’s envy-inducing portfolio of top-notch vineyards when the time to produce magic like this stunning label arrives. This collection is stocked with vineyards planted to one heavyweight appellation after another, like Howell Mountain, Carneros, and Oakville. These top-notch AVAs set the parameters of pure Napa expression, and Laurie’s expert guidance makes sure every single particle of character shines through like the sun on a pleasant afternoon. Jacob and Frederick would be proud.

About the winemaker

Laurie Hook is as much of a fixture at Beringer as the property’s buildings. She joined the legendary winery as an enologist in 1986, a couple years after she earned her degree from UC Davis’ prestigious winemaking program. She’s been here ever since, and she’s shown off her scientific-driven acumen and instinctual touch in a host of positions, from Assistant Winemaker to the illustrious Ed Sbragia to her current role as Winemaker Emeritus. When Laurie accepted the latter gig in 2015, she handed Beringer’s chief winemaking reins to a familiar name: Mark Beringer, the great-great-grandson of winery founder Jacob Beringer. Although his surname practically predestined him to a career in viticulture, Mark’s sublime skills and celebrated work at wineries such as Benzinger and Duckhorn have shown he’s most worthy enough to carry his family’s banner of excellence, even as he continues to build his own legacy.

"Nearly Opaque dense purple color with a nose of stewed black fruits, black cherry, black plum, clove, cinnamon, baking spice, purple flowers and dark chocolate. The palate is silky with broad tannins that meld together well with the luxurious mouthfeel creating a balanced fruity and savory finish. This needs ample time to settle down but sure hard to resist now. Drink over the next 3-7 years and pair with hearty dishes."

Other Offers

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

  • Your wine can be protected from environmental damage for the entirety of its journey
