California’s Meritage heritage started with Franciscan Estate’s Magnificat. Its legacy continues brilliantly from this 98 point vintage. Winemaker Janet Myers sources a tremendous array of estate-grown Bordeaux-style varietals and transforms them into a symphonic blend. This is the best Magnificat in a while! Clear space in the wine collection for this beauty.

About the winery & vineyard

Franciscan Estates was launched in 1975 by Silver Oak Cellars president Justin Meyer. Winemaking impresario Agustin Huneeus planted the roots of California’s Meritage movement when he initially created Magnificat here in 1985. These two facts are like catnip to hardcore oenophiles, yet they take a backseat to the winery’s meticulously kept Oakville estate vineyard as the property’s true prime mover. Indeed, winery’s unflinching devotion to curating this parcel of land has been as much of a venue hallmark as their collection of 90+point wines, an aspect that winemaker Janet Myers fiercely protects with her immense science-driven skill set. For this iteration of Agustin’s groundbreaking label, Janet once again turns to the estate’s undulating vines, only sourcing Bordeaux varietals that absorb every speck of character forged by Oakville’s legendary diurnal temperatures and loamy soil. In her expert hands, these grapes are transformed into a brilliant blend that not only do right by Justin’s and Agustin’s legacy, but it also pushes her legend to ever-expansive heights.

95 pts - Alex Casella, WSET Advanced

"Vivid purple color meets refined nose that is flaunting a majestic bouquet. Black currants, black raspberry, cocoa dust, sage, fresh rosemary, immaculate oak balance, with a kiss of vanilla and violet. Grippy and luxurious tannin structure that speaks class and pleasure on the tongue. This is showing fantastic now, mouthfeel and flavor profile are on point. This bottle however, has the backbone and structure to peak in 7-10 years and will make a solid selection for your next formal dinner party. Better in 2019 and in a word, delightful."

92 pts - James Suckling

"A bright and balanced red with currant, plum, chocolate and walnut aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Pretty length and control to this. A blend of mostly cabernet sauvignon with some merlot, malbec and cabernet franc. Drink or hold."

4.2 - Vivino Users (419 Reviews)

"Full bodied with a nice finish. Good blend that leads itself to drinking alone without food. Happened to pair with a white sauce, meat and, vegetable pizza" - Vivino User

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING OVERVIEW

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

SHIPPING SCHEDULES FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPMENTS

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

TRACKING INFORMATION

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

KEY ADVANTAGES OF TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING
