Uttering the name Russell Bevan around Napa Cab collectors is akin to blowing a dog whistle in a kennel. That’s what happens when a winemaker is in the midst of riding a near-unprecedented hot streak that’s punctuated by more perfect 100pts  Parker scores than anyone else in the world. Addax’ latest limited-production masterwork proves that the justified hype that surrounds Russell’s handiwork isn’t going to dissipate any time soon. This decadent wine sourced mostly from Screaming Eagle's next door Tench vineyard is chock full of the nuances that makes the consumption of red wine such a joyous, life-affirming experience. With only 4 barrels produced, this bad boy may be gone in the time it takes to finish blinking!

About the wine

There are two things an oenophile must know about Addax. Firstly, their labels are about as scarce as they come. Secondly, they’re going to be worth whatever effort is needed to secure a bottle. The latter component is driven by the winemaking genius of Russell Bevan, the man that seems to pick up Parker perfect scores as effortlessly as an elementary-age schoolkid picks up colds.  Unapologetically rich and creamy, this fruit-forward decadent diva gracefully unfurls along the palate at a scintillating, sensual pace. It’s a level of decadence that remains constant all the way through to its luxuriously long finish. Only 100 cases of this succulent superstar were produced; failure to act swiftly on picking this up could be the source of years-long haunting.

About the winery & vineyards

Addax wines take the concept of quality over quantity to its absolute extreme. There’s never more than ten barrels produced, but what does emerge from this hyper-cult wine tends to cause minds to melt like watches in a Dali painting. The big reason for this is due to the unmatched talents of Russell Bevan, the winemaking genius that’s scored so many perfect Parker scores over the last few years, he’s made his ridiculously long list of high 90-point phenoms seem like odd under achievements. The secret for his world-dominating success is a simple one: That is, pick exceptional fruit from the best vineyards possible and stay by their side from the cellar to the bottle, changing their natural course as an absolute last resort. It’s a decidedly old-school tack that Russell will not compromise under no uncertain terms. Then again, considering what a raving fan he’s turned Parker into, there’s really no reason for him to change things up. Besides, what is known about this ultra-limited-production label is that it seems destined to scoop up another round of high scores. It may also touch off all-out battles between oenophiles trying to secure a bottle.

About the winemaker

Russell Bevan is known as “Mr. Parker 100pts” in some circles. That’s because the winemaking savant has hauled in more Parker perfectos in the last few years than any other vintner in the world. It’s an impressive stat, and it’s one that Russell is quick to point out didn’t just happened overnight. Russell refers to his wine-making style as a Draconian approach to vineyard management, which is coupled with a laser-like focus on every single grape he sources as it makes its journey from vine to bottle.

95pts, Alex Casella, WSET Advanced

"A luxurious purple color endowed with a nose of blueberry compote, wild blackberry, fresh plums, nuanced oak and wild purple flowers. A ton of all that blue and black fruit develops out the gates and finishes with bright red berries, cedar, forest floor and refined tannin. The body is tenacious and feels seamless on the tongue. This is a gorgeous wine that is intriguing to drink now but can benefit from 3-5 years in the cellar. Follow over the next decade."

Other Offers

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

  • Your wine can be protected from environmental damage for the entirety of its journey
