Vintners in Barolo practically danced with joy at the 2011 harvest--fast and furious, it was a year of top-notch quality across the region, and Bersano was a happy part of it! Now, seven years later -  the Badaria is just starting to strut its stuff with a floral nose, tart cherry fruit and the classic finish of pepper and allspice.

About the wine

The late Arturo Bersano was a forward thinking man leading the winery that bared his name to great heights, even Angelo Gaja considered him a mentor. Situated in the tiny commune of Serralunga d’Alba, Bersano’s Badarina Barolo is a standout amongst its Piedmontese peers. The commune is best known for the incredible ageability of its Nebbiolo-based wines, and the 2011 vintage set Bersano up for absolute success.

From the century-old winery’s best plots of Nebbiolo, the Badarina is a classically styled Barolo that oozes elegance and charm. From the top plots of the family’s 230 hectares, this wine is a beauty with intense floral aromatics of rose, violet, and orange blossom. On the palate, the 2011 is medium-bodied and incredibly smooth with Nebbiolo’s signature cherry fruit, intense tannins, and a long, earthy finish. Six years of cellaring and this wine is still an infant--though a gorgeous one! Stock up and see for yourself just how good Bersano gets!

Reviews

96 pts, Alex Casella, WSET Advanced

"Ruby brick color with purple core delivers classic Nebbiolo perfumes. Kicking stewed cherries, ripe plum, mint, leather, white chocolate, and baking spices. Sleek and silky mid palate delivers acidity and freshness on the finish with clean red fruits and moderate intensity.  A Fantastic example of the vintage and delivering approachability, sleek and seductive fruit, fine grain tannin and versatility. Pair with grilled lamb chops, porcini mushroom risotto, Carne crudo, roasted quail and Oh Truffles. Delightful now and will drink well for the next 5-7 years if cellared properly."

93 pts, James Suckling

"A rich and ripe red with berry, chocolate and walnut aromas and flavors. Full to medium body, velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink now but will improve with age. Opulent is the word to describe this."

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING OVERVIEW

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

SHIPPING SCHEDULES FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPMENTS

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

TRACKING INFORMATION

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

KEY ADVANTAGES OF TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING
