Ever since moving to Napa from France 10 years ago, Benoit Touquette has built a reputation among one of the top winemakers in America. A reputation backed up by a multitude of 100pt perfect scores from Robert Parker over the last few years. While most of Benoit's wines command a 3 digit price tag, Teeter Totter is his side project Napa Cab which can easily compete with many cabs 2 or 3 times the cost. Selling like hotcakes, we already know we will be  unable to keep up with the demand for this wine so act fast if you want to secure an order (as you should) and be among the  privileged few people to own the 2014 Teeter Totter Cabernet Sauvignon.

About the wine

This mind-bending label is the result of a passionate curiosity. Benoit’s hunted high and low through some of Napa’s finest appellations in search of the best fruit. While Cabernet Sauvignon takes the lead in this wine, it’s joined by an astounding cast of supporting players, including Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. A powerful, well-balanced beast marked by a hedonistic edge that may make Bacchus blush. Bodacious aromatic pops of blackberry, raspberry, and vanilla leap from its dark magenta hue. A bold and juicy palate transition sets the stage for notes of black currant, licorice, lavender, baking spice, and granite to emerge and spread. Healthy supple tannins propel the wind to an impeccably structured, fruit-laden finish. This is a wine that Cab lovers should have in their collection, no questions asked.

About the winery and vineyard

Of course Benoit Touquette has a side project. As one of Napa’s busiest winemakers, the burgeoning viticultural superstar and Michel Rolland protege can’t merely be content with making his popular Fait-Main label or cult Realm Cellars and Kata labels. Teeter-Totter is the result of Benoit’s viticultural restlessness; borne out of an unquenchable thirst to capture the wondrous diversity of the Napa Valley region. Benoit doesn’t disclose the precise vineyards he gathers his fruit to make this phenomenal Cab; considering he’s worked with Rolland and Screaming Eagle winemaker Andy Erickson, he’s earned the right not to spill such secrets. What is known, however, is that he only sources fruit from appellations that lock his focus in like a tractor beam, such as Calistoga, Saint Helena, and the all-but-officially-designated Pritchard Hill. The mélange of fruit he’s found has been painstakingly shaped into a fascinating tale of vineyard and terroir, making it one side project that demands center stage.

About the winemaker

Benoit Touquette’s remarkable winemaking career contains one mic-drop after another. He honed his craft under legendary wine consultant and oenologist Michel Rolland. He worked with Andy Erickson to create Screaming Eagle. He oversaw the production of Ovid Vineyard with both impresarios. These impressive touchstones are simply chapters in Benoit’s ongoing obsessive chase for viticultural perfection; a ceaseless chase that’s led him down a wide swath of sumptuous roads. In addition to being the mastermind behind Fait-Main and its Teeter Totter offshoot, he produces wines for such acclaimed labels as Hartwell, Realm Cellars, and David Beckstoffer’s cult creation Kata. Whatever wine he represents, he goes forth with the mission to create wines that tell stories. Judging by his workload, he is quite the storyteller.

96 pts - Alex Casella, WSET Advanced

"Big bold black fruits, dark cocoa, fig jam, roasted plum, tar, meat and smoke smacked with lots of grilled herbs and cedar and topped with a tinge of gun powder and red man tobacco leaf. This nose has all the bells and whistles that partner with the mid-palate voluptuously and it comes all together for a long refreshing finish. This is built for the ages, but don’t be shy on cracking a few open now…You will need to decant now and in the next 5 years. I recommend pairing with venison, lamb stew and hearty dishes that have a mild spice component, braised short ribs, duck breast and blackened pepper rib-eye."

Other Offers

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

  • Your wine can be protected from environmental damage for the entirety of its journey
