The best Lodi Zinfandels have an irresistible element upon first whiff - like a freshly baked berry pie with baking spices that are just so hard to stop sniffing! Things get even better on the palate with loads of blackberry, strawberry and olallieberry - fruit-a-plenty. Clove, cracked pepper, and baker's chocolate offer an extra dimension of complexity that keeps the wine from veering into runaway fruit train territory. Baron Cooper is textbook Zinfandel that captures this character perfectly, and delivers tremendous quality-to-price ratio and savings for parties, feasts, and celebrations.

“This wine is well below its market value. Buy by the case and share with friends and family. 97 Points” –Planet Grape’s Master Sommelier Catherine Fallis, aka grape goddess®

About the wine

2012 Baron Cooper, Old Vine Zinfandel is a food friendly wine that’s perfect for just about any combination of staple American favorites like bbq, pizza, and grilled anything. It's a smoothly textured, berry and spice filled Zin that has enough brightness to handle a table full of food. This is a classic Zinfandel.

Stunning notes of strawberry and raspberry are layered with wild blackberry, a hint of anise, black cherry, and light Lodi dust. The finish is smooth yet tart, preparing you for the remainder of your feast.

About the winery

Joseph Spenker arrived in Stockton in 1868 with 27¢ in his pocket. Ten years later he owned over 1500 acres of some of the best ground in the Central Valley including the Ranch now called Jessie’s Grove. In 1870 he went to a wedding in Stockton where met a beautiful girl, Anna Schlieman, and married her the next day. They had two children, Jessie and Otto, who grew up in the home Joseph built for his family in 1906.

Joseph planted his first vineyard in 1888 – adding more acres in subsequent years. Many of these vines remain in production today and produce some of our most prized wine. The property is currently over 320 acres, with 265 acres of premium grape vines. Some of these vines were planted in the 1800's making them over 120 years old. They are still producing fabulous wines from these ancient vines! <strong>Including The Westwind Zin.

“This gorgeous, sultry siren of a wine is from Joey Tamura’s 8-acre plot of 44-year old vines on Lodi’s east side. It is near to Harney Lane, one of my faves, and the fruit character is similar. I love the pretty cranberry, wild strawberry, raspberry and red currant notes that mingle with the darker, sexier blackberry and boysenberry notes. There is also tomato leaf, sun dried tomato, Sicilian Castelvetrano olive, Italian black licorice, and a soft hint of both finely ground black pepper and sandalwood. It is plush, round, soft and juicy on the palate with vibrant notes of olallieberry and boysenberry, and it finishes with a pleasant tartness, leaving the palate ready for the next bite or sip. This wine is well-below its market value. Buy by the case and share with friends and family.”

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING OVERVIEW

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

SHIPPING SCHEDULES FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPMENTS

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

TRACKING INFORMATION

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

KEY ADVANTAGES OF TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING

  • Your wine can be protected from environmental damage for the entirety of its journey
  • This service is provided to you at no additional cost
