Dancing Crow’s winemaker David DeSante once turned down a chance to work for France’s legendary Chateau Lafite Rothschild. That anecdote alone proves he’s got serious skills, and every drop of his talent is demonstrated by this spectacular expression of Sauvignon Blanc. Charged with bright aromatics, crisp acidity, and a seductive mouthfeel, this splendid selection provides perfect refreshment on warm days and sensual pleasure after sunset. This is a white wine you will want to have on hand.

About the wine

Bright, crisp, and flavor-packed, this well-balanced expression of  Sauvignon Blanc expertly sashays down the fine line that separates refreshment and decadence. Lively bursts of citrus blossom, fresh cut pear, and rose petals flourish upon the nose. A vivacious transition leads to a voluptuous mouth-feel marked by invigorating layers of Meyer lemon, golden apple, and apricot. Supple tannins guide the experience to a long, lingering finish. This is a white wine that wine lovers will long for on a warm summer day.

About the winery & vineyards

Dancing Crow’s name stems from a tale regarding an unlucky winemaker and thieving birds. It’s a cute story, the venue’s real-life origins are just as cool. Founded in 2011, Dancing Crow is the brainchild of Napa mover and shaker Tony Cartlidge, the self-described “over the hill benign dictator” that steered the semi-eponymous Cartlidge & Browne from a classic garage winery to a 120,000 case per year bulwark. For this brilliant Cab Sauv, Dancing Crow Cellars turns its attention to vines found in the hidden gem appellation known as Red Hills. Perched on the northern Mayacamas Mountains above the fog line, the grapes here indulge in extended exposure to UV light. The extra sunshine, when combined with the well-draining volcanic soil, help produce succulent thick-skinned grapes that can barely hold back their intensity. They add a dash of other varietals with these gorgeous grapes, and the result of their voodoo is a phenomenal red that can complement practically anything. Presumably even crow.

About the winemaker

David DeSante knew he wanted to be a winemaker since he was 10, when he’d try to ferment Concord grapes at his childhood home in Erie, Pennsylvania. The bug held strong into adulthood; so much so, he and his wife Katherine moved to Napa with her encouragement, and he’s been pursuing viticultural perfection ever since. His impressive resume includes stints in Australia and France as well as the opportunity to be Robert Mondavi’s right hand man. He also had a chance to score a gig at the esteemed Chateau Lafite Rothschild, but turned it down when he found out Katherine couldn’t come. It proved to be the Chateau’s loss; Katherine got bit by the vintner bug during her husband’s exploits, and she’s since become a fermentation wizard. Together, the dynamic duo lends their exceptional winemaking talents to Dancing Crow and a few other wineries, and they also have been stewards of their own label, DeSante wines, since 2001.

"This wine is unique in its ability to be both rich and bright with multiple levels of flavor and complexity. Aromas of fresh cut pear and citrus blossom charm the senses, while the flavors exhibit a refreshing blend of meyer lemon, apricot and golden apple. Elegant bouquet of rose petals, guava and honeycomb. On the palate its fresh acidity plays well with crisp golden apple, apricot and pear flavors. Another stunner for the price and case purchase which won't break the bank, is recommended."

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING OVERVIEW

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

SHIPPING SCHEDULES FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPMENTS

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

TRACKING INFORMATION

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

KEY ADVANTAGES OF TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING
