The bones of David Bruce’s world-renowned viticultural legacy was built on his desire to produce Pinot at its pinnacle. It was a dogged pursuit that led to his winery hauling in impressive plaudits from Wine Spectator and other such luminaries decade after decade. This stunning Pinot demonstrates the desire to reach Pinot perfection hasn’t waned in the least bit. Winemaker Mitri Faravashi sources fruit from the world-renowned Russian River Valley AVA and transforms them into a sexy, bodacious expression of pronounced fruit and juicy concentration. Big, floral-tinged aromatics of black cherry and blood orange are joined on the palate by luscious pomegranate and nuanced nutmeg, while velvety tannins lead to a lengthy finish.

About the wine

Wmkr Mitri takes full advantage of 2014’s high-quality growing season by sourcing grapes from the Napa Pinot mothership that is the Russian River Valley and deploying his signature science-tinged approach to each fruity nugget. The result of his efforts is an sultry, voluptuous Pinot marked by brazen concentration and a supple mouthfeel. A bold swirl of blackberries, blood orange, black cherry, honeysuckle blossom, white pepper, and rose petals is detected on the nose. The aromatics transition to a dark, luxurious palate attack of black cherry, pomegranate, blood orange, and nutmeg. Round tannins lead to a long, velvety finish.

About the winery & vineyards

David Bruce Winery was one of the 12 California wineries involved in the legendary Judgement of Paris. Its eponymous founder pioneered techniques modern vintners take for granted, like secondary maloactic fermentation and importing French oak barrels. These dual mic drops helped transform Napa from a sleepy community to an international viticultural force. It also laid the base for a foundation of excellence that continues today under the watchful eye of winemaking wizard Mitri Faravashi. In his capable hands, David’s groundbreaking legacy is honored through abundant science-fueled knowhow and a deep respect for David’s passionate obsession for crafting the perfect Pinot Noir. To create this latest study in Pinot brilliance, Mitri turns to vines planted in the Russian River Valley appellation, Napa Valley’s cradle for killer Pinot fruit. Its lofty reputation is well warranted, as its unmatchable combination of well-draining loamy, volcanic soil and cool-but-not-cold temperatures influenced by fog shooting from the Petaluma Gap produce Pinot that all but burst with concentrated fruit and mouthwatering acidity. Mitri artfully guides the choicest grapes to a meticulous wine-to-bottle journey, culminating in a breathtaking expression of Pinot that effortlessly meets David’s revolutionary standards.

About the winemaker

Mitri Faravashi is entrusted with propelling David Bruce’s groundbreaking legacy well into the 21st century. It’s a daunting task, yet since he took the reins as David Bruce Winery’s head winemaker in 2004, he’s proven himself to be worthy of the challenge and then some. Equipped with a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry with a Winemaking and Fermentation emphasis from San Jose State University, Mitri’s viticultural skill set is built on a remarkably fine-tuned scientific instinct. It’s an approach that he honed to perfection previously at Mirassou Winery, where his work as an enologist practically connected him with the soil. At David Bruce Winery, Mitri fuses this lab-fueled intuition with a deep appreciation of the property’s history and the proprietor’s mythos; a formula that yields fantastic results vintage after vintage.

"Attractive cranberry purple color with a nose dark black cherry, burnt blood orange, pomegranate concentrate, white and red flowers, baking spice, and sweet oak. The palate has some opulence but is sleek as well defined. The velvety body gains weight in the mid-palate and finish really over-delivers at this price point. This is a splendid wine from trustworthy producer and reliable Russian River Valley Vintage. Other Offers

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

  • Your wine can be protected from environmental damage for the entirety of its journey
