With a price that reads like a misprint, Paydirt is an intensely decadent and an absolute multi-bottle commitment! When deductions crush your spirit, Paydirt has the deep passion to blow your mind with its 'All-In' concentrated blackberry fruit, violet essence, with a hint bacon smoke. ULTRA rich and upfront on the palate, this baby overdelivers.
As The Wine Advocate puts it: “This is another producer who has consistently produced outstanding wines that remain more than reasonably priced given their quality. They merit serious attention.” Translation: If Your Weakness is Delicious Deep Dark Red - This has your name all over it!
About the wine
Paydirt was founded on the principle that for the biggest reward, you’ve got to risk it all. That’s the legacy founder Patrick McNeil began in 2008 when he launched Paydirt wines alongside decorated winemaker McPrice Myers.
And hit “Paydirt” they did. Atop the chalky, alluvial soils of Paso Robles, the grapevines in the “Going for Broke” blend thrive, delivering $100 concentration for ⅕ the price. The unique shape of the hillsides in Western Paso Robles subject these old vines to the country’s most dramatic day-to-night temperature swings, forcing the vines to ripen slowly, producing rich, dense reds with the benefit of a long hangtime on the vine. Aged in neutral French oak to let the Central Coast terroir shine, Paydirt is a must-have red with pedigree in spades.

"Paydirt hits the pinnacles of ripeness in every sense, offering super-concentrated blueberry and black raspberry. To make it interesting there are some purple floral notes wrapped in an underlying firm structure with lavish fruit with a very full mouthfeel. It sings on so many levels that I could award this 100 points. An absolute wonder in winemaking and a wine that could change the face of the winery. A great example of what is possible!"
