Winemaker extraordinaire Xavier Vignon traversed the globe more than once, making wine in Napa Valley, Champagne, and Australia before settling in the Rhone Valley to zero in on the world’s most complex blends.

From the Rhone Valley’s leading wine consultant (and a Robert Parker favorite) Anonyme is anything but an anonymous red! Opulent and multidimensional, this Chateauneuf du Pape proves the Rhone is still the king of blends. Seamlessly marrying smokey, meatyness with lush Mourvedre and Grenache, this bottle is full-bodied and on fire--it’ll be a treat to drink for the next decade at least!

About the wine

The head oenologist at Avignon’s largest wine laboratory, Vignon oversees the creation of over 300 of the region’s best wines, and started his label in 2002 to highlight the terroir of the Southern Rhone. Cuvee Anonyme combines 100 year-old Grenache vines interplanted with Counoise and Mourvedre to capture the warm, ripe growing conditions of Chateauneuf du Pape. Aged partially in concrete tanks and in barrels of all sizes for maximum oak complexity, Anonyme is a refreshing twist on classic French winemaking that delivers flavor in spades. Delicious today, but with the backbone to last another ten to twenty years Anonyme is a rare French bargain!

"Great wine... very soft... strong body... really worth the money." - Alfredo P.

"I don't have much experience with CdP but this wine of Xavier Vignon was my best experience ever." - Rodrigo S.

"The inky colored 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Anonyme is a serious winner in the vintage. A blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre and the rest Counoise, Vaccarèse and Muscardin, it offers a huge nose of blackberry jam, garrigue, crushed violets, and incense. Ripe, unctuous and opulent, yet not over the top, it reminds me of the Trois Source cuvée from Vieille Julienne. This is a smoking good release that will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and shine for over a decade."

"Xavier Vignon is one of the Rhône's leading winemaking consultants, and so it's no surprise he had access to some great fruit for his 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Anonyme. Tellingly, the blend entirely omits Syrah, containing 60% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, 8% Counoise, 4% Vaccarèse and 3% Muscardin. Floral notes and ripe cherries appear along licorice and vanilla (one-fourth of the wine was matured in new barriques), yet this is no drink-now version of CdP. This full-bodied wine boasts broad shoulders, a plush, creamy center and a muscular finish loaded with ripe tannins and spice. Give it a few years to mellow, and drink it over the next 15."

The Most Compelling Chateauneuf-du-Pape in 30 Years! It’s One of Those Wines You Can’t Stop Talking About! Absolutely Shocking!
We could barely wipe the smirks off our faces when this wine landed. We were told an exclusive “secret” vineyard, nestled between Duckhorn & Revana. It pushes concentration to the Max revealing a juicy core of black fruited distinction! Wow!

Other Offers

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.
